Automotive Safety and Assessment Engineering Program (ASAE) focuses on fundamentals of vehicle modules and systems, structure design and manufacturing process. Global vehicles testing standards for vehicle safety, performances and emission are introduced together with regulations in order to evaluate vehicles and components.

 

 

 

Impact Sled Test Rig: To determine, evaluate and compare with vehicle components under impact force e.g. motorcycle wheel, seat structure, helmet, etc.

 

 

AE research lab in Automotive Engineering Program at TGGS is emphasized on passive safety, pre-crash and vehicle & component evaluation. Passive safety: vehicle design and human injuries of vehicle occupants and pedestrian based on human model (THUMS) and MADYMO with collaboration. The vehicles are as follows: a) bus structure and body design, b) motor cycle, quality of after-market parts and injury mechanism and c) vehicle with non-add-on safety equipment (i.e. Truck for under-run protection) and interior parts which affects occupant injuries (i.e. Trim parts). Pre-crash: vehicle collision scenario under human behavior, road environment and function vehicle. In this area, the driver behaviors are statically recorded in which the impact velocity can be changed together with the road condition. Functional vehicle is in term of brake performance and system which is dependent on the lack of maintenance and non-OEM brake pad usage. Vehicle and component evaluation: dynamic behavior, component functional test and dynamic test of safety part (i.e. seat, safety belt etc) including vehicle fuel consumption.

 

 

Vehicle Dynamic Testing Equipment: To determine the brake distance, Braking G force, Pitching, Yawing rate, Foot Brake force and Haman response time together with vehicle speed behavior.

 

 

 

 

Small and medium size-engine Fuel flow rate Equipment: To measure and monitor fuel consumption of passenger car for driving behavior test.

 

 

 

 

Large size-engine Fuel flow rate Equipment: To measure and monitor fuel consumption of passenger car for driving behavior test.

 

 

 

 

Hand Grip force Equipment: To identify rider hand grip force for investigating braking distance.
